Personal Development is the process of working on yourself...things you'd like to improve about YOU!
Why is personal development important? There comes a time in every woman's life where we feel the need to improve ourselves or our lives. Depending on what it is you'd like to change in your life, you need help getting there. If that means going back to school or studying for a certification of some sort, then do it! If you'd like to learn how to improve in areas of your life such as love, relationships, dating, marriage, money, investing, wealth etc., you need to read books written by reputable authors and people you trust.
Personal Development is also about investing in yourself. You can find plenty of great mentors and coaches who are experts in the different fields of study that you'd be interested in. Let's say you are interested in creating a business. Find a coach/mentor who specializes in creating businesses and one who has been there and done that with a proven track record. Would you rather start a business from scratch and fail 5 times or acquire a business coach who can save you time and money and lead you to the way of success? You have to invest in yourself in order to live your best life on purpose! Sometimes it takes that mentor or coach to help you reach your 'aha' moments!
Here are a few personal development goals you can set for yourself:
The opportunities to develop yourself are endless. Anything you want to learn how to do, get off your butt and go do it! Nothing is going to be thrown in your lap. You need to get moving!
Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
According to the above scripture, the words that come out of our mouths are powerful. Your mind is powerful and can have a reverberating effect on your life. The flap of a butterfly’s wings can be felt thousands of miles away and so can the words that leave your mouth. It can be difficult to control your mind and the words you say, especially if you have been speaking uninhibitedly for years. However, it’s never too late to change. Always speak positively over your life. When you feel a negative thought creep into your mind, pray and confess the opposite of the negative thought into a positive verbal word.
Do not walk around speaking negative things about you or your life: "I can't do this, I won't be able to do that" That type of negative thinking and speaking will spew out into the universe and guess what...you just spoke your destiny of what you can't and you won't do. Remember, speak positively over your life! You'd be surprised at the results you begin to see manifest.
Affirmations are positive words or phrases you speak daily to change your life or to help shift your mood. "I love myself", "I will be kind to others today", "I will smile at everyone". These are examples of affirmations. Saying phrases like these daily will help you walk in love and positivity. As each word leaves your mouth, the frequencies in the atmosphere bend. This is why gossiping and negative self talk are so powerful. Imagine how the world would shift if we all spoke words of life, encouragement, love and well being. Affirmations remind and help ground you. Be rooted in the truth of your greatness. Know that you are held, loved and all your needs are met. If you wake up in a negative space, pray before you get out of bed. Otherwise, your entire day could be a negative one. Remember, YOU have the power to change things in your life. USE YOUR POWER AND YOUR WORDS WISELY!
